Listed below are updates on the top 10 domain sales from a year ago this week, as ranked by DN Journal.

Most interesting to me this week is Hopper.com, which sold for $50,000, and has raised $22 million in VC funds for their travel planning site.

1. Swag.com for $120,000

  • The homepage could make you think you’ve arrived at Swagbucks, the popular online rewards program, but Swag.com appears to simply be an affiliate site.
  • Ownership under privacy protection.

2. MoneyLender.com for $75,000

  • Whois lists “Dimitrios K” as the owner, with a London address.
  • No site resolves.

3. FindInsurance.com for $50,500

  • Ownership under privacy protection.
  • You’ll find exactly what you’d expect to find at the site……insurance offers.

4. Hopper.com for $50,000

  • Their placeholder simply says, “It’s a big world. Hopper helps you discover it.”
  • They have already raised $22 million for their travel planning site, per a Boston Globe article. It helps to have alums of TripAdvisor and Expedia as your co-founders.
  • Hopper is a prime example of the type of domain Shane talked about recently.

5. Food.de for $38,360

  • An online grocer. Per a Google translation, “Behind food.de a young founders infected with ten years experience in the food industry and commerce based in Leipzig. Many experiences were collected through activities for renowned companies such as Jamba, Groupon, Unister, Lofex and other e-commerce and food startups. Together, the managing director Karsten Schaal and Christian Fickert working for several years on various online solutions for businesses and therefore are fascinated by the challenge of the online grocery stores.

  • “Your Weather” in English, the site is affiliated with YourWeather.co.uk.

7. DanceFashion.com for $27,780

  • Whois lists “Fan Hongbin” as the owner.
  • No site resolves.

8 (tie). FancyDressCostumes.co.uk for $25,280

  • Owned by “Redthorn Media Limited”, per Whois.

Thousands of product lines are available for next day delivery, many of which are licensed from popular brands such as Disney, Marvel and Pixar. 8 (tie). Printed.com for $25,280

  • Owned by Tangent Communications, a UK firm that is “a leading integrator of technology & marketing strategy+, with industry leading digital print+ facilities“.
  • Tangent has relaunched its online offering Digital Print Partnership as printed.com with the aim of growing the site into the “biggest B2B website in the UK” for ordering print.
  • They also own the .co.uk, which forwards to the .com.

10. GoPost.com for $25,000

  • Owned by the US Postal Service, this is a surprisingly web-savvy acquisition if this is a new product/service that they’re planning to promote.
  • It forwards to a section of the USPS.com site: “Say hello to gopost. Your new place for 24/7 shipping and receiving.
